Course Description:
- CPR and AED: Learn how to perform CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)to revive someone who is experiencing cardiac arrest.
- Basic Life Support (BLS): Covers airway management, rescue breathing, and chest compressions.
- Wound Care: Learn how to assess and treat cuts, abrasions, and lacerations, including how to control bleeding and bandage wounds.
- Fractures and Sprains: How to immobilize broken bones and treat injuries to joints and soft tissues.
- Choking and Breathing Emergencies: Understand how to assist someone who is choking or having difficulty breathing.
- Burns and Scalds: Proper care for thermal, electrical, and chemical burns.
- Medical Emergencies: Respond to common emergencies like heart attacks, strokes, diabetic emergencies, and seizures.
- Emergency Action Plan: How to evaluate a situation and make decisions on how to assist, including when to call emergency services.
Duration:
- Basic First Aid: Typically lasts 4 to 8 hours depending on the depth of training and the certifying body.
- Comprehensive First Aid and CPR: Can range from 1 day (6-8 hours) to 2 days (12-16 hours) for more in-depth instruction.
